Antipast inspires and increases your appetite for wearing, just like what the sun does to a blossoming flower.
Antipast – as you may have already guessed, means appetizer. It is an important prologue of a meal to stimulate our appetite. If you define clothing as the main dish, accessories can be defined as its appetizer, stimulating and broadening the gratification of fashion.
Antipast – also is meant for Anti–PAST (as referred to time sequence). It is meant for people to simply enjoy coordinating and styling freely, without restraining the wearer with brand name. Yet we aim for one-of-a-kind quality. Using our many years of knowledge and experience on designing textiles and accessories such as socks, we try in every way to create what we ‘feel’ for. It is important for us to maintain our sensitivity to materials, originality, and extremely delicate quality with refined technique. These distinct characters of Antipast are apparent in all of our products.
Antipast is made by two designers - Junko Jinushi and Kyoko Kato. They began their career separately as textile designers. While Junko worked as a freelance designer for socks and accessories, Kyoko exhibited dyed and woven textiles. They began as a team for designing costumes and accessories for magazines, and in 1992 they established their company ‘Coup de Champignon Co., Ltd.
